New Pokémon Go Update: Encounter Shadow Regice in Team Rocket Takeover, Meltan Returns

Players will have the chance to catch more phantom Pokémon during the Team Rocket Invasion for Pokémon Go’s Rising Heroes season, which is scheduled to begin toward the end of March. During this event, Mystery Boxes will once again showcase Meltan, as well as the shadow legendary Pokémon Regice that Giovanni has caught.

From March 21st to the 29th, the main event will be a Let’s Go event where participants can win Mystery Packs by completing challenges. Meltan, a legendary Pokémon, will be available in the Mystery Boxes, and there’s a possibility it will be a shiny variant. To transfer a Pokémon from Pokémon Go to Pokémon Home, players will need to own either Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu! or Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee! for Nintendo Switch.

In the meantime, Ditto will be able to learn new forms and evolve into Diglett, Grimer, Snubull, Corphish, Starly, Roggenrola, Tympole, or Litleo as part of the festival. In the future, you’ll see more of these Pokémon in the outdoors.

From March 25-29, Team Rocket and Giovanni will make more appearances around the globe as the event draws to a close. After taking over a PokéStop, members of Team Rocket will emerge from clouds and occupy it. Every participant will have access to the same Special Study to meet a phantom Regice. Before the Special Study ends on June 1st, all participants have until then to finish it.

We can only hope that Regice, the new Shadow legendary Pokémon, will prove to be more effective than Registeel was last season. Supporters were not enthusiastic about this Pokémon when it was first introduced, so we’re curious to see if Niantic has given Regice more bite than Registeel.
