Beat Saber, the rhythm and slicing-and-dicing game in which players use neon blades to slash through boxes, is a hit with virtual reality (VR) aficionados. People love the addictive gameplay movements and stylish aesthetics of the title, which has become one of the greatest Virtual hits. Fans are eager to find out if they can play Beat Saber on the PlayStation VR2, the newest Virtual Reality device release. The game was accessible on the original PlayStation VR, which was launched in 2019, but this does not ensure that it will be available on the VR2.
Is it possible to play Beat Saber on the PlayStation VR2?
Beat Saber was available on the HTC Vive, Oculus Quest, Quest 2, Quest Pro, and Valve Index in addition to the initial PSVR. The game is available for the PlayStation 4, but the PSVR device is required. The PSVR2 is only functional with the PlayStation 5, but the PS5 can play the majority of downloadable PS4 titles purchased from the PlayStation Store. Hideaki Nishino, PlayStation’s Senior Vice President of Platform Experiences, verified that the PSVR2 is not backward compatible. That means you won’t be able to play titles for the initial PSVR on your new VR2, including the original PS4/VR release of Beat Saber.
Beat Saber is also now owned by Oculus Studios, a virtual reality rival to Sony, which has some fans concerned that Oculus Studios will not allow Beat Saber to be published on devices other than Oculus. Beat Games studios and Sony, thankfully, have stated that Beat Saber will be heading to the PSVR2 at some time.
Beat Saber was not a launch game for the PSVR2, and it is still not accessible on the new VR hardware as of this writing. We will keep you updated as soon as the game is available on the devices. Watch Sony and the official Beat Saber Twitter account to find out when Beat Saber will be available on the PSVR2. It is unclear which version of Beat Saber will be released on the PSVR2, with supporters speculating that a Beat Saber 2 will be released on the VR2.
